Not that I'm a particular fan of the Alley Oop comics but when I was reading this morning's news online I came across this article on BBC which immediately connected with the latest story arc in Alley Oop. Compare:

Wikis in Plain English

Ok I am lovin' this video by Lee Lefever which totally simplifies the answer to the question "what is a wiki". In fact all of the videos at Common Craft make understanding the technology of todays web so much easier. Check it out.
